Fur, Feathers, and a Wedding!

This weekend we have a wedding, photographing the lovely Solanah & her Husband-to-be Sam. Vintage and at a lovely location, it is sure to be completely beautiful.

Also, a cuff made by Liaison out of vintage flair, lace, and wonderful feathers. Paired with a vintage fur coat, you can't go wrong.

Finding Streak

As my dear friend Mishalla stated, "You're on a sweet finding streak!" and it seems that it is true!

Last week, (or was it the week before that? no matter..) on my way to school I spotted a Frocky Jack Morgan masterpiece hanging off a telephone pole. Yes, that's right, I found a work of wearable art hanging off a pole! It was hung off a lineman's stirrup, about 10 feet up. As I was late for school, I had to leave it behind.

After Pilates, I drove back before my math class. I was armed with fifteen minutes, a honda civic hatchback, and some sweet climbing abilities. When I arrived, there was parking just beneath it! I began to fish it down when I nice pastor came and assisted me. Then he blessed me and, as far as he was concerned, weird ideas... and put it in the back of my car. It filled up the whole hatchback area, including the folded down seats.

On Friday, I spotted this nice silver road bike leaning against a telephone pole on the "free corner". We call it this because it's heavily trafficked and if you leave something there, someone will grab it and take it away. Well, thinking that it was not left to be taken, I let it alone. Well, days passed and it just sat there getting rained and shined on, alternately. So I walked on over, spent a few minutes loitering and looking to give anyone an opportunity to claim it, and then rolled it home. It's a vintage (60s/70s) ladies commuter bike made it France. It needs a little work, but considering my bike was stolen a few years back, this is just amazing for me!

Also, a new photo of my new favorite model from Vorpal...

Stephanie D, Shimmer-tastic

Uneven Ground

Floofie wearing Stephanie D Couture. This whimsical golden dress glows in the sunlight like Ariel's dress as she emerged from the sea as a human.

Le Gasp, Wedding Wants

I wish!

Yesterday I made a visit to my favorite antique clutter shop on Mississippi, Flutter. This dress, by Urchin, made me gasp. It is so beautiful. Perfectly white with out being WHITE. Lace without being too delicate. Fluffy but not too girly. Oh my goodness.

I think I found my wedding dress.

Miss Joncus

This weekend we had the pleasure to work with Larissa Joncus of Heffner Model Management in Seattle. I did a set of pin curls before the shoot so we could head to the studio (which tends to be a bit humid) so that they wouldn't fall before shooting. When we got there, they looked so good I decided to leave them for some beauty shots. The eyelashes are from Elise, and are long blonde false hair. I paired them with natural makeup that would glisten slightly on her eyes and glow on the rest of her skin.

This beautiful smile was brought on by the mention of her boyfriend. Candids are so lovely.

Today, We Weave. Or, We Have Woven?

Hair to pair with the whimsical, delicate romance of my last post...

The original braid crown that caught my eye. An updo for any occasion.

I can only imagine the total time this look took. I might be surprised, considering my personal threshold for hair details. This hair style could be paired with any outfit and look wonderful. However, let's make sure it has no potential snags, as it could cause a world of hurt.

Slick, thick hair pulled back and then wrapped with itself. Genius. Completely sleek and classy while being modern and even a bit alternative.

This reminds me, for some reason, of daisy crowns. Intricately hooked within the next piece...

Whimsically Delicate

This wardrobe. To die for. I wish I could recall who created it but who knows if the photographer even originally credited them. The light textures and cremes. It's so whimsical without being overpowering.

I want to collect amazing wardrobe to wear every day. It's so much easier to look fabulous instead of ridiculous when all your clothes are a little bit "much" for everyday wear.

As if everyone just walks around in boots and the classy equivalent of hot pants. Oh, if only.

Objects of Desire, Gucci

My blog is going to move in the direction of inspiration photos and artwork that inspires me. If it interests you too, awesome. Let's get inspired together. However, one problem with this is that I no longer remember half of the people who made these images. Most of them were found on MM and Flickr. If you know who worked on any of these photos, please get in touch and I will credit them accordingly.

Today, a beautiful black lipped model with a perfect wave of hair. This photo was inspiration for a look I did with Nicole Brockway and Maddi Caligari for the Vorpal Images Gasoline Glamour shoot. I think of it often while working on makeup. So clean and classic, yet with a bit of edge.

Black lipstick recommendations as per my personal opinions and those of other fabulously talented makeup artists:

Lip minx by Mac
Black lipstick by Barry M
Shu Uemura is said to have one, but I have yet to locate it...

Gudren Wolf

Manifestation

Stephanie D Couture's dress wonderfully accented the sunshine here. I call this, "Manifestation" because she looks as if she is the manifestation of the sunshine. The sparkling, glass covered ground made for great effect.

I got to do Makeup and Hair for this shoot, choosing a slight green color to brighten the golden color of the dress and Gudren's dark eyes.

Winding Lady

Another amazing photo of Shayla from last Sunday. I am so excited to have worked with her, after knowing her for oh, five years. She did a fantastic job and her skin tones looked great with Stephanie D Couture's dress!

Peter Kim

A good Photographer friend of ours had a fun idea so we went to the Couve to shoot it. We had fun in the last moments of daylight, except that were downwind from what smelled like a Creosote factory.

Tow Away Zone

A new photo we did with Mishalla DeGagne. Can't help but love her dainty pin curled hair and vacant/captivated expression.

Tell me, how does one become captivated and vacant at once?

The Beauty that is my Life

As a further introduction, I thought I would give you a peek into my life as of now. My wonderful, hectic, chaotic, and entertaining life.

Ben.

02
My Fiance, the love of my life, my partner in creation and crime. Photographer and Director, he helps me put together fantastic shoots and makes sure everything sparkles just so.

Vorpal Images.

On the Lookout
My favorite photo of all time. Leah Ferrell wearing Squeak latex fashions. Makeup and production by myself, Lighting and Direction/Photography by Kenneth Benjamin Reed. This is what we like to do. Creating cinematic photography.

Lighting Setup [v2]
A lighting setup by Ben, before/during our Gasoline Glamour / MF Magazine shoot.

The Silver Room
Ben and I on set with Cherry Dollface at Indent Studios. Cherry is wearing clothing by Laura Lee Laroux, I did her makeup and assisted Ben's genius. This is where we set her up for a multiple exposure shot.

Lipstick [candid]
Mainly I produce the shoots, and do makeup/styling. I would principally call myself a Producer and Makeup Artist. However, I also assist Ben with lighting when he needs someone to hold something, or other important tasks like that.

Moment [candid]
Occasionally, I model. Mostly only for Benjamin, as I really only enjoy in depth projects for personal modeling. Also, because I prefer to be behind the camera!

Close to Done
Sometimes the stuff we do is just amazing! This wedding, we got to work with Nicole and Jeremy on their 17th century inspired Rococo wedding!

Cervidæmorphous
Steampunk inspired shoot featuring Eirik Aswang, me as the model and stylist.

Makeup Artistry.

Ashley [Frazzled Barbie Composite]
I love doing makeup. I love all types. I like working on colorful sets like the one here with Jenjoy, Kevin Russ, Abibat, and Ashley.

Scintillement
The lovely Larissa as shot by Howard Petrella. I think I enjoy working with makeup because you get to accentuate already existent beauty and transform it into different energies. Larissa is lovely and young, so it was wonderful to play with glitter and gold for her eyes.

Art.

the Power of Paint
I love to Spray Paint. I don't partake in Graffiti however I love using things I've seen and learned from Graffiti Artwork to inspire abstract splatter and drip work.

The Tree That Can See
I enjoy collecting pieces of wood and found objects like records to paint on. I have a thing for painting trees, mainly on chunks of wood left to be waterlogged or shredded.

While a lot of things to injest and images to see, I hope this gives you a bit more insight into who I am as a blogger.

About Me

There is a girl walking through the city with her headphones on, trailing the scent of cherry cloves and confidence behind her. She is stunning black&white in a world of technicolor overdose, soft where others are hardened; scalding where others are bitter cold; innocent where others are merely naive. She has known tragedy; understands suffering; has felt the pain of a shattered heart... and she has survived. She's a girl with gentle curves and soft skin, a velvet smile and eyes that could swallow you whole, but a girl made of iron and leather and steel inside, who would sacrifice the world for you if she loves you. And who won't let you live to regret it if you hurt someone she loves. She preserves the world she sees around her with a camera and paper and a pen, never lets a chance pass her by and lives without regret. She doesn't know the meaning of the words give up. There is a girl walking through the city like she owns it, trailing the scent of unconditional beauty and strength behind her.

This is that girl.
